My name is Steve Quinn and I am the chief instructor and founder of the Ni-Sen karate school. I've been training in karate for 29 years and I hold a 5th dan black belt After practicing Ishinryu karate for 25 years I believed I had served my apprenticeship and decided I needed the autonomy to run my classes in my own way. Now, four years on, I am still working hard to improve the level of knowledge, standard of technique and standard of instruction in my school. My coaching philosophy is simple... Enthusiasm - Effort - Encouragement - Excellence If enthusiasm and effort are encouraged this will eventually lead to excellence.
The Ishinryu style, of which I was a member for 25 years, was founded in the early 70's by Ticky Donovan OBE. Most of what I teach at the moment is based on those many years of experience, although I have changed the syllabus and grading system a great deal to incorporate more effective teaching methods and new scientific knowledge about martial arts and human physiology. I am also constantly learning myself. As I find better ways of doing things they naturally start to filter into my teaching. So Ni-Sen is in a constant state of evolution, reflecting the needs of students in the modern world. Ni-Sen will never be a "style" and was never intended to be; it encompasses everything of value to the contemporary student, without restricting itself to a single discipline. WANT TO JOIN? |
